O despertar de um Irão livre ou a verdadeira face de uma teocracia?
Durante a campanha eleitoral, os cartoons parodiando as cores de cada candidato fizeram furor no Irão. Mas o que o cartoon de Ahmadinezhad sugeria aparentemente has hit the fan. De facto, o que nos chega de Teerão não é muito animador e confirma que o regime iraniano não passou o litmus test de que falava a Nobel da Paz e activista dos direitos humanos Shirin Ebadi.
Assim, a Foreign Policy informa que:
«I don't think anyone anticipated this level of fraudulence," Reuters cited the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace's Karim Sadjadpour. "This was a selection, not an election. At least authoritarian regimes like Syria and Egypt have no democratic pretences. In retrospect it appears this entire campaign was a show: (Supreme Leader) Ayatollah (Ali) Khamenei wasn't ever going to let Ahmadinejad lose."
"I'm in disbelief that this could be the case," Reuters cited Trita Parsi. "It's one thing if Ahmadinejad had won the first round with 51 or 55 per cent. But this number ... just sounds tremendously strange in a way that doesn't add up ... It is difficult to feel comfortable that this occurred without any cheating."
The scale of the suspected fraud was such that fears of a possible police crackdown on opposition leaders and their supporters have been heightened.

Confrontações violentas, a manterem-se as pretensões de que Ahmadinezhad ganhou as eleições, são também as previsões dos analistas inquiridos pelo Wall Street Journal:
«Political observers warned of a potentially turbulent week ahead as Mr. Mousavi's supporters hear the reports of their candidate's defeat and his allegations of fraud. One popular slogan shouted by Mr. Mousavi's supporters at the campaign rallies: "If there is cheating, Iran will blow up."»
A International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran fala de fraude eleitoral e da retaliação da linha dura iraniana contra os reformistas:
«After a disputed election, the offices of two reformist candidates, Mir Hossein Moussavi and Mehdi Karroubi were seized and locked by intelligence and security forces. As the Interior Ministry is declaring Ahmadinejad as the victor, the security apparatus loyal to him have taken to the streets in an overwhelming show of force.»
Os receios de um iraniano anónimo entrevistado pelo The Independent parecem assim bem fundamentados:
«But I think in the next years, there may be a bloodbath in Tehran, because there are two totally divided sides in the country. All this is silent at the moment...»
Entretanto, Hugo Chávez é até agora o único líder mundial que ficou muito feliz com a reeleição fraudulenta de Ahmadinezhad. De acordo com a página do presidente iraniano, Chávez afirmou que a vitória de Ahmadinezhad era uma vitória para todo o mundo e para todas as nações livres.
O que quer que aconteça nas próximas horas/dias em Teerão, o resultado é certo: iremos ver um Irão diferente. Espero que seja um novo Irão, a dar os primeiros passos no caminho de um Estado de direito e democrático, mas receio que iremos ver apenas a verdadeira face de uma teocracia...
